Extensive research shows sitting for prolonged periods can and often does lead to reduced comfort including numbness, pressure build-up and an increased risk of circulatory problems.

The heart rate and general movement in the circulatory system can slow down, due to the decreased demand for blood. Pressure build-up on the buttocks and underside of the thighs has a potentially negative impact on blood flow volumes and velocity. A lack of proper circulation can allow metabolic toxins to build up which in extreme cases can lead to deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Those who spend a lot of time seated due to mobility problems or because a large part of their life involves sitting in an office or at home or in a vehicle inevitably experience some of the physiological conditions associated with pressure build-up.

The MouleTec Therapeutic Multi-Purpose Cushion (Multi) has been specifically designed to provide enhanced comfort and healthcare in any situation or environment where prolonged sitting may cause pain or discomfort.

MouleTec patented cushioning technology ensures a high level of support which subconsciously promotes improved posture. The unique perforated design encourages the spread of occupant weight evenly across the cushion surface which greatly reduces pressure and provides optimum seated comfort.

Cushions are made from high density polyurethane foam materials manufactured to the highest specification and are fully compliant with British Standard fire retardant regulations. The zipped cover is a durable woven micro-fibre material easily removable for hand or machine washing.

The Mouletec Multi is very lightweight, fully portable with an in-built carry handle. It can be used on a wheelchair, a favourite armchair, a dinner chair and as a booster cushion on a sofa.

MouleTec cushioning technology has been developed in collaboration with UK Universities, the NHS Centre for Healthcare Innovation Development and distinguished osteopaths. It has received a British Innovation Gold Award. Independent testing such as Duplex Ultrasound and detailed pressure mapping showed convincingly how MouleTec cushions promote higher blood velocities and volumes when compared with most normal cushion products.

MouleTec technology features in aircraft seats with major international carriers such as British Airways, SAS, Cathay Pacific and Finnair. It is incorporated into specialist seating systems in British and overseas defence vehicles and used in hyperbaric decompression chambers where it’s necessary to sit in cramped conditions for very long periods.
